Healthy teeth come at the beginning of the absolute must for an aesthetic smile. Oral and dental care, made as correct and regular, not skipped routine dentist checks, ailments that are treated at the right time are the building blocks of healthy teeth and therefore a beautiful smile.

However in some situations, although we try to protect the health and hygiene of teeth and the oral environment, the integrity of the aesthetics smile is impaired because of crowdings, fracturings, discolorations dependent on various reasons or deformities, and a look that creates discomfort occurs in the teeth.

Porcelain Laminae are a very common application in aesthetic dentistry that offers fast, robust, and excellent results for people who are uncomfortable with their smile or the appearance of their teeth due to different reasons.

In Which Conditions are Porcelain Laminae Applied?

-In any case of crowding, asymmetrical or incompatible with the face/lip ratio which disrupts the integrity of aesthetic smile,

-In case there is a gap between front teeth that we call Diastema,

-Especially in fractures, taken place in the anterior teeth,

-Permanent discolorations,

-In the treatment of problems related to the form and order of teeth,

-It is easily applied in cases of deformation or damage resulting on the tooth surface.

In brief, Porcelain Laminae are an ideal method that provides extremely natural and aesthetic results for the cases that restrict one’s freedom to smile, cause discomfort for any reason, and negatively affect the whole face/expression harmony.

How is Porcelain Lamina different?

The most important difference by Porcelain Laminae is that the abrasion on the tooth surface is much less than other applications in the phase of preparation before restoration, which we call the preparation. Before the application, the tooth surface is reduced by 0.2-0.5 mm and the tooth is made ready for the laminae. As for some cases in which the order of teeth is suitable, the restoration is easily completed without any reduction on the surface.  This situation is very advantageous concerning patient comfort and the procedure result.

Except this, due to the high light transmittance feature provided by its thin structure, it provides the closest results to the natural tooth appearance in terms of aesthetics and increases the aesthetic success of the restoration made. It is solid, has high resistance against impacts, is corrosion-resistant, and does not undergo a change in discoloration. Compared to composite laminae, porcelain lamina reduces the risk of abrasion and cracking on the cutting edges and provides longer color retention. Thanks to its smooth surface, it helps to minimize the formation of tartar, thus supporting general oral health.
